Luckily no one has been hurt, no damage done, and I suppose with 42,000 miles on, the fact that the tyre still has 3 to 4mm of tread is a testament to the longevity of the product. Thanks to everyone for the comments and information. As and when Kwik Fit respond I'll update the forum. I think the biggest lesson in this is the importance as a car's owner, of checking the tyres on a regular basis. Cheers Jack |

This happened on my dads car only in last few weeks, 2 rear tyres(pirelli) had big splits in sidewalls, garage sent them back to pirelli and he received a cheque few days ago for 70% of replacement cost................
