D5 Re-build
Hi All
Has anyone got information regarding D5 Re-Build i.e Block My D5 engine decided to break conrod 3 and thump it through the side wall of the cylinder block. This is what the garage i went to reported. so i am currently started to strip down the engine. i have loads of time to do this work as i luckly have a second car to commute back an fore to work. looking to replace the cylinder block, thats if all the Valves have not withstained any damage also. Otherwise its a refurb engine. (Anyway if it is a refurb engine i want to keep my old one for spare parts.) as Volvo parts are not cheap........ Currently i am down to the double OH Cam shafts. Do i need to remove these shafts in order to remove the head ????? if anyone knows feel free to post a comment. failing that its back to the Haynes Manual. ha one other question does anyone know if the engine / block can be lifted out the top of the engine bay or has it gotta go through the bottom. Watch this space on my progress kind Regards Paul |

Sorry I cannot answer your query Getupango. I know next to nothing about diesel engines and even less about the D5. But, My daughter has a V50 D5. You mentioned Haynes. Is there a manual that covers the D5 engine ?

Think you need to post more information.
What is the year and model of your car? There are at least 4 different power outputs for D5 engines with more variants depending on Euro4/5 emmisions and DPF's. If you want the right answer you have to ask the right question. |
