Default S80 D5 questions

Is this normal? Rev the engine from about 1k to 1.2k and then at approx 1800k and the engine shakes.

Is this normal for these engine or do I have a misfire or other fault? No fault lights and seems to run ok. I have run a litre of moly diesel purge through the tank and used other additive.

Has anyone added extra insulation behind the dash? More to do with the noisy ac which seems a Volvo thing.

Just not quite happy with the car at the minute.

Mine doesn't do this.

Could be the gearbox torque mount and/or driveshafts.

It is not normal and is definitely a fault of which I have no clue about.

However things like extra foam are not the answer as that will just be potentially masking whatever is the real problem.

Do investigate what is the actual cause of the problem as once resolved you will not only love the car but also want to marry it and have children.

Does my car have the vac mounts like the earlier cars?

Will check out the gearbox mount later, will it be obvious if it's shot?

Not sure whether it will be obvious but in the family we have a C30 D5 Manual and a C70 D5 Geartronic that both do it. We found info on the forum about T5's having a similar issue and that was cured by replacing the torque mount. It helped on the C30 but didn't cure it. The driveshaft needed replacing as the CV boot had split - unable to order just a boot from Volvo - and that cured the shaking full stop.

Cheers for the info, driving to work today and the most annoying thing is the bloody noise from the air con, going to try and find the expansion valve.

Is the valve any easy part to change? have access to an air con machine, is there anything special needed like a bloody diagnostic machine?

This seems the same as I have must be a Volvo S80 thing.
