V70 Towbar fitted
I've fitted a bosal detachable towbar supplied with volvo dedicated plug in wiring for 7 pin socket to my V70 SE Lux Premium 2014, My problem that when trailer is connected and i'm backing up the reverse sensors are active and of course continually sound, has anybody heard of an accessory that can be fitted to the electrics to turn them off only when towing, I've thought of 2 methods first it to install a simple rocker switch in the boot and connect to the feed wire for the sensor control box, the other idea i've had is to make the same connection but wire it to the 7pin socket using the fog light connector thus whenever I connect the trailer plug it interrupts the supply to the sensors.
My worry is the all the later Volvo's have very sensitive electronics would I be creating a problem for myself? Below is a picture of the 7 pin socket i have used. Simply copy and paste if it doesn't show. https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...1&d=1509818572 |

I know this may sound stupid but do you not have a button to switch them off, I have on mine? I have front and rear sensors.
Saying that not sure if my button switches off both front and back!

On my 2012 XC70, the button switches off all the proximity sensors so that in traffic having some guy edge close to you in a queue doesn't drive you doubly mad; his bumper crawling and the incessant beeping that he causes!

The towbar wiring module needs programming. £79 unless you can get it as part of a service.

The off button is there with the rears only system too (as on mine). Look at the lower part of the dash above the gear selector knob; you will see a row of buttons for the aircon, heated screen etc. The next row under that is for BLIS, headlights, and other safety features; one of these buttons is marked "P)))))". This turns off the rear sensors. Hope you find it.

I'm not sure what is referred to by "Volvo's plug in wiring", but provided you install the towbar electric system the way it's supposed to be, then this is not a problem at all.
The TRM (TRailer Module) will handle everything associated with the trailer (today there's no reason to install anything but 13-pole socket, by the way). It will turn off the rear parking sensors, not turn on the rear fog light, adjust the view in the parking camera, monitor turn and brake lights on the trailer, control 12 V supply to the trailer and adjust the operation of the stability control when you hook up your trailer. Turning off the parking sensor when using a trailer with the button implies that you also turn off the front sensor. That's bad, since it's easy to forget the front sweeping to the sides when you reverse in cramped areas. And such areas are easy to find in Britain... |

"Volvo dedicated plug in wiring" is not the same as "Volvo genuine trailer wiring". With "genuine", everything will be done automatically; with "dedicated" some functions require manual intervention. Robbie |

I see. Then "dedicated wiring" is the same as "foul play" in my book.
