Default 850 obd-ii

I've bought the 850 OBD-II Android application but I haven't had much luck with and ELM327 dongle to go with it. I've established that the cheap ones don't work with it, although the one I bought did work with Torque on another car.

I'm a bit wary of buying an expensive dongle in case it turns out, as these things often do, to be a cheap one with an inflated price tag. I'd also prefer not to spend too much more than I have to.

Can anybody give me a link to a dongle that's been tried and tested with 850 OBD-II?

May have it wrong but I didn't think 850's were OBD compliant...

^^^^ what he said.

You need to make one of these. They work a treat.

850's had the socket but weren't fully OBD compliant. Volvo had special 'reader' that could read codes, but only they had them IIRC.

Correct. Later 850s had the OBDii scket but were still OBDi. You need an LED code reader ascdescribed in the link
