Red face Intermittent starting

I have had the old problem starting the car when hot for some months now and following the threads on here and other sites I set about trying to resolve the issue. Fuel pump, relay, fuel filter, the old immobiliser issue, fuel pressure regulator, vacuum hoses, the injectors (cleaned), water temperature sensor, plugs, leads, dizzy, Ignition coil. None of this solved the problem.

The alleged knowledgable mechanics said to me all along “ nah it wont be the starter motor, it’ll be .....insert item here”

Guess what. Put a new starter motor in, problem solved. Sometimes it might just be the obvious!

Same with the S70R.

It slowly developed a random issue where when the key was turned, all the dash lit up but nothing after that. Repeat and its fine. Tried the fuel pump relay, antenna ring etc to no avail. Lived with it annoyingly for 3 years until the car died out right and had to be towed home. Then put a new Bosch starter motor on it and its perfect.
