Default Thanks

Had this happen to me again today - did the bonnet drop trick...unfortunately the alarm still didn't flash the indicator on arming but did on disarming.

Checked the bonnet catches -near side not full engaged -ie could lift n/s of bonnet slightly. So triggered the catch fully using a thin bladed screwdriver, rotating the "wheel" several turns. Did bonnet drop, catch engaged and the alarm flash is now functioning perfectly.

SO many many thanks to all of the above contributors.

I am new here and have a slight problem with my V70 D5 facelift version on a 54 plate. When I purchased the car about 6 weeks ago the lights would not flash when you set the alarm but would flash twice when the alarm was unset. The dealer said no problem it is just an adjustment and we will sort it,which they did. It has been working fine until I replaced the battery and now it has gone back to not flashing when you set the alarm and flashing twice when you unset it.

Has anybody heard of this before and if so how do I adjust it to flash when I set the alarm.

I forgot to mention the alarm is setting correctly and the red LED is flashing to tell me the alarm is set and working. This problem is more annoying than anything else and if possible I would like to cure this without going to the Volvo dealership.

Thanks for reading,

V70 Owner.
Try slamming the bonnet harder than usual , If it is ok it will be the LEFT hand bonnet catch , there is a microswitch in there which gets faulty ..
no microswitch in the right hand catch ..
send a PM to me i have a new bonnet catch here ...

Another small trick I learnt - look at the front "corners" of the bonnet. There should (could?) be two rubber bump stops. Screw them all the way in then back out 1/2 turn. Mine had unscrewed enough to stop the bonnet moving down to engage the switch properly so no lights flashing to show locks all engaged. Never had the issue since and only need to drop the bonnet from about 6".

Default Lights not flashing when alrm set

I have had same problem of indicators not flashing when I lock the car and set alarm, checked the bonnet as Glider suggested and nearside of bonnet not latched. Opened and reclosed bonnet and Hey Presto problem solved! Cheers Glider

Yep. Had the same problem. Shutting firmly cured it.
