Default AirCon Warning

Hello,

My aircon is displaying the flashing lights fault on the recirc and aircon off switches when the ignition is switched on. I know this indicates a fault with the aircon and I'm getting ready for a potentially hefty bill. I know it's going to need a diagnostic check but what could it be? Could it just need regassing? The system does blow cold with the aircon on but I have noticed that when the sircon is on I hear a quite aidible psssstttt sound that goes on for a couple of seconds every 10 or 15 seconds. Is that normal?

Thanks for any help.

Might not be as bad as you think, flashing lights on the aircon panel do not mean low gas just that there is a fault somewhere in the system. In fact low gas doesn't trigger the flashing lights!

Get the codes read is your first step, everything else is just guesswork.

Pssst sound doesn't sound quite right though, never heard of that one so I can't help I'm afraid.

Cheers,
John
