Unhappy Nightmare on towbar street

So I finally found a towbar for my C70.They said it was an original volvo one and was detachable.£150 delivered with all electrics so I thought OK.

Firstly they took £212 from my debit card (vat + delivery)

Then it turned up without the detachable ball part...

Its a breakers which is being as helpful as a dose of swine flu...

Any ideas? Has anyone had the same dealings with breakers

I am now looking at the towbar, which is a brinks with no plate number, wondering how the hell it fits...

It looks different from others I have seen ...I am starting to think the worst

I have no parts with it that I presume goes into the chassis to tighten too.

I feel that I have been totally ripped off and even if I return at my cost I will still be £100 out of pocket due to vat minus some other bo.....cks they will deduct.

I just hope that this bar will fit and I will have to source a ball for it but with no knowledge of bar id number I`ll be chancing it....

I am not a wealthy man and £200 is enough to spend ...I just wish I had bought one from brinks for £280 with all the kit....
Being frugal for the sake of £80 has got me right in the s--t

Does the bumber have to be removed to fit the bar....if it is the right one...

Where is the bar??? No the one that sells beer

Any advice would be apreciated

Can you post some pictures of what you've got?

FYI, I fitted a towbar a year or two ago on a 96 S70. That did need the bumper to be removed with the towbar fitting into existing holes on the chassis rails under the car. Incidentally to remove the bumper you'll probably need to temprarily remove the trim inside the rear wheel arches

if it was visa debit, you still have insurance on purchases over £100

I would start out by writing to them, recorded delivery, that the part didn't meet their description, and what you would like for the matter to be put right.
Then take it from there.
Last time I had a problem with a breakers, it got to the stage where I made them a final offer before a Small Claims Court action - they refunded rather than go to Court, but basically gave me loads of verbal over the phone.
