Default C30 headlight lens reflectors

Hi guys,

I noticed that my (uk) driver side headlight is very dim so over the weekend I decided to clean my 2012 C30 headlight lenses, it was real pain in rear end to disassemble them but I managed to do it, so it turns out it wasn't dirty lens that was causing low light but reflecting cup or housing or what ever it called.
Now my question is Would older model C30 or S40 or V50 projector lenses fit my C30 headlights? as I would be able to get whole headlight unit fairly cheap.
Thanks in advance

Hi
pretty common issue across all P1 platform, flaky coating. Never seen 2012 projector in-hand but from pics looks identical to all used in s40/V50 thorought all years. Even 2005 model share the same projector type (based on Bosch AL projector) just with fresnel lens instead of clear.
I would say yes, its the same.
for reference - have a look at my PDF guide on replacing projectors. You will see pics of 2005 OEM projector and brand new aftermarket Bosch AL type. Except for bulb holder, everything should look identical to your one.

Just a word of warning - older projectors from pre-FL cars had fresnel (frosted) lens, if you get one of those, make sure you swap it with your clear one as light output will differ between left/right.

hope that helps.

A temporary* fix is to stick a small patch of aluminium foil tape over the 'burnt' area.

* temporary as in I did mine 3 years ago and still ok.....

Hi LizardOfBodom,

Ok first of all I'm not putting aluminium foil as Welton suggested

So yeah, I already tried to search in ebay for projector lens replacement but no one sells them separate, one guy actually opened headlight but there was similar story to mine so I end up not buying them.
So I checked your tutorial how to retro fit aftermarket projectors from https://www.retrofitlab.com/en/aharo...-design-1.html
and it looks pretty straight forward , I assume they would fit nicely just like plug and play unless I missed something (couldn't be asked to read everything you wrote there )
Oh yeah I forgot to mention that Im running H7 35W HID from https://www.hids4u.co.uk/ they seem to be alright , just because of current projectors I think I'm loosing a lot of lights.
So yeah any final thoughts before I buy new projectors you advised ?

Thanks
Karl

Hi
no, if you are already running HIDs (succesfully, I assume) there is nothing better you can do than replacing your stock projectors. You will achieve better/less dazzling beam pattern with correct sharp output AND you will benefit from bi-xenon option. If you stated in the beginning you run HIDs I would advise RFLab strtaight away and wouldnt suggest OEM ones.
Its far better option in your case.

Cool

Think I need to have a crack at cleaning mine

Silly question - what is best to use for the cleaning of the lenses/reflectors? (other than a cloth )

I used moist wipes for glasses followed by microfibre cloth
