Default Front Parking Sensors

Hi Guys

what is your view on parking sensors on the front of the XC60?

Is it worth having them fitted on ordering or can you get away without them?

I have them on my present passat estate and to be honest they just annoy me on the front, although the rear sensors are great.

i've had them on previous cars, but would'nt be without them on the XC60

I don't know if it's just me but the car feels quite big and hard to judge the front, when you want to park up close to a wall/garage door etc i always end up too far away LOL

I agree with HairyMonster and wish I had them from the start. Back ones are useful but front would be equally so. Does anyone know if they can they be retro fitted? I will certainly have them done if I can.

Thanks for the reply HairyMonster.

Yes when I had the test drive I did think it might be hard as the front is not all visible, think I may play safe, rather than have any embarassing moments LOL...

Hi Bluesnappa, may be worth asking your local dealer. The only worry is that they wouldn't be colour coded as you do see some cars that have obviously had them fitted after the factory build and they are black...not very nice if you have a light coloured car!

I ordered some rear parking sensors a few years ago as an option on an X-Trail...I thought that there would be factory fitted in Japan but they were actually a Dealer fit and they simply sprayed them the right colour before fitting. They worked fine so it's possible just depends on checking if the type you go for can be painted.

Ringing tomorrow! Looking at the front of the car, there are a couple of 'black dots' in the grill below the registration plate that may be the place they fit them so colour may be no problem. Cheers, I'll let you know!

I plan on having them fitted just to save a slight scratch that would probably cost as much as it does to have them fitted.

Guys, there is an official Volvo accessory for retrofitting front parking sensors. It does mean having to have them coded into the existing rear sensor control by the dealer although you could fit the sensors and the wiring yourself. See the following link for the retrofit - http://vccs.volvocars.se/accessories...turecode=en-GB

Note that they are fitted into black trim pieces therefore there is no need to paint them.
