VIDA & DiCE solution
With the sad demise of my lovely C70 Solstice edition due to a runaway DPD van, I am selling some items that I had bought for it.
This thread is for a VIDA & DiCE diagnostic kit which I originally bought new from member Vindo who used to sell them on here. I've shamelessly borrowed the following description from one of his posts! ----------------------------------------------------------- The kit I am selling is a plug & play kit, you get everything needed to be able to run diagnostics on your Volvo. There are a multitude of things you can use this kit for. To name a few: - service reminder indicator reset - this is useful if you do your own servicing - vehicle diagnostic and fault tracing (DTC code) - this where the kit's true power lies. It allows you to read the detailed (volvo specific codes) from your car. Most code readers can read the codes but will give a generic code that won't be of much use. Vida also gives you a brief explanation of what the code means, where possible it will run more detailed test. It will tell you how many time the error occurred, operational parameters snapshot, etc - clear DTC codes - part information - this is again a very good and useful feature where you can browse parts broken down in category. Once the vehicle has been read by the tool it will only list parts specific to your car. Exploded views will aid identifying the part your need or are looking for. It also provides disassembly and assembly information, including torque settings, etc - change car settings (model dependant) - allows software upgrade (you need an active subscription to be able to use this feature - not included in the sale). Now to tell you a bit about the tablet: it is a Linx 1010 tablet running Windows 10 Pro fully activated and includes all the latest Windows updates. 32GB storage, 2GB RAM. Linx tablet are very well made an good quality. Although I have listed these as vida tablets there is nothing stopping you from using the tablet for other purposes. If you look only many solutions available for sale have limitations: they either use virtual machine running on Windows or lock the laptop down to VIDA only saying don't connect it to WiFi or update Windows etc. My kit does not have any of those limitations. It comes with a detachable keyboard dock so you have the option to use it as a laptop or a tablet. In my opinion it's much better than a laptop. Has all the features of a laptop, giving you about 8+ hour of use time as it does not have moving parts. No charger, but includes all the cables. You can use a USB phone charger be it an apple or android phone charger or a generic one. You can expand storage by microSD card up to 256GB. ----------------------------------------------------------- The tablet and keyboard dock still have their original boxes. I only ever used it a handful of times on my C70 in the end, so the tablet battery may need a few charge/discharge cycles to return to optimum performance. I will include a 2-amp USB charger for it, which you can also run it off. I'm looking for £125, plus postage or you can collect from Leighton Buzzard LU7 or Chesham HP5. Please respond on this thread or via PM in the first instance.

If it will operate on my 2006 V70 I am definitely interested! Volvo main dealer charges more than that for a "One hour diagnostic check"And they still cannot come up with the correct fault.

Hi Tony, it's the 2014 update to VIDA so I see no reason why it won't work with your P2 V70, but I'd urge you to check that for yourself. Drop me a PM if/when you're happy to proceed.

I still have the VIDA setup and it includes the DiCE cable. However due to customs issues with being outside of the EU, I'd much prefer to ship within the UK or, better still, collection in person.

Therein lies the problem! I first took the car to a good auto electrician locally but his equipment gave no readings. I tried a "Swedish Motors" specialist. He too good get no readings- he was only handling late model "C" models. The third, general, garage came up with codes that suggested ABS module fault. This was rebuilt, re installed and nothing changed. SO- Volvo main dealer who had some software that gave me a written report which ended with the "suggestion" of an internal fault with the ABS module.!!!!. I suspect the CEM is faulty as the front and rear foglamps went out first and this is shown on the dealers report as the CEM, xenon lights -no signal. Do not know where to go next, hence your piece of kit sounds ideal. So who do I check with is the big question. Willingly pay the price if it is suitable.

However, reading codes is all good and well. Understanding the codes and fixing the issue is the next part. In the nicest way possible (no offense intended), codes mean nothing if you don't know how to fix them. I suggest you try another Volvo specialist. It doesn't sound like a DIY/at home fix that you're experiencing. This VIDA/DICE setup is definitely worth having though, just for diagnostics purposes alone.

vida is much more than a code reader its a parts catalogue and a workshop manual and some versions also have wiring diagrams plus the ability to read live data its also bidirectional meaning you can operate parts of the car if you have problems with switching its a must have if you are running a volvo and don't want to pay extortionate prices for diagnostics
