Default Counting splines

Hi all, so got a drive shaft for my v40 with Mitsu engine, from j & r on eBay, and it was the wrong one, the inner end had a different fitting. So not sure what to do. I have heard there’s loads of driveshafts for this car. Some people have even said, make sure you count the splines at both ends of shaft, to make sure you get correct one. REALLY!! Is that so? A motor factors near me can order one for £105, but I have to pay them upfront, before I can compare them both , side by side. And when I ask can I get money back if it’s not the same as mine, he sort of went welll err, yes if it’s the wrong one you should get refund. Drives you round the bend dunnitt!! Terry
