Default Making the glovebox stay closed!

Hi,

Any tips on how to adjust (or maybe modify) the 140 glovebox latch?

I have adjusted mine carefully. It feels to shut firmly, not loose or rattly, but it usually falls open again within about an hour.

Any tighter on the latch adjustment and it won't close at all. What am I missing?

Cheers

John

Hi John - had the same problem. From memory, I didn't touch the latch at all, then loosened the 2 hinge bolts either side and shut the box, squared it up by hand and held it in place with gaffer. Then once happy with it's position I hand tightened the hinge bolts to sufficiently hold the box in that position - tentatively open the box up and torque the hinge bolts up. No mods, just patience and a few false starts.

Cheers

Hmmm - no comment from me as I have exactly the same problem on my 144. In the meantime I've tye-wrapped mine shut so can't use it right now.
It seems the earlier cars (ribbon-speedo etc) are more likely to be a pain to get to open/close than the 240-style ones on later round-speedo cars with glove boxes like the 240 range.
