Take it back to the dealer and get them to sort it out!

Not with the new MOT rules coming out in May.... something tells me your going to have a rough time of it if there is any smoke coming from the exhaust, that will be a straight fail until the DPF is replaced.

Take it to a garage for them to look at, maybe cheaper in the long run as you could mess about spending unnecessarily.

A diagnostic session should show what the injectors are doing and also see if the dpf is present and what state it's in, also tell if it's been regenerating.

The injector was replaced with a new unit and as far as I know it's ment to have a software confirmation loaded but I can't get it done with no dpf present what's the best thing to do ? Thanks

Best thing to do is 'the right thing'. Get a DPF back on the car, and get the injector coded. Nothing less.

Why can it not have it done?

Look for a Volvo Indy near you and ask them. If you get the smoke problem sorted I wouldn't worry about the lack of DPF unless it fails come MOT time.

Fit a DPF, take it to the dealer and have them code the injector and do a service. When they service it, the software downloads should overwrite any bodged attempts to map out the DPF.
