Default Anyone have a Bosch dizzy 0 231 153 003 for sale

Hi all,
I have recently had problems with the points and timing on my 1968 1800S (https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...=280679&page=3).
My car appears to have the wrong distributor (a JFU4 0 231 170 085 which is for a B20A engine) and I would to go back to stock and fit a non-advance, 0 231 153 003. Does anyone happen to have one for sale?
Thanks
Phil Fish

Yes, I have one. But if I sell it to you I know that one day I'll regret it!! It's the last one I have in my parts emporium.

003 is my most favoured distributor they did!

Phil;

Some configuration of Distributors add Vacuum Advance OR Retard, but all Distributors have Centrifugal Advance. I seem to recall from other thread, that yours is not precisely as preferred (but advance was only out by a slight amount)...this is, imo, no reason to change Distributors! As an alternative, I suggest a detailed Dist service with possibly a minor adjustment to CA by slight bending of CA Spring mounts...see: http://www.sw-em.com/Volvo%20Ignitio...CA%20Servicing

Good Hunting!

Thanks SwedishandGerman,

Oh well worth a try.

Would a 009 (pollution control) work on my 1800S B18?

If I can't find a replacement is your offer still open for me to come down to Exeter for a tune-up session?

Phil

Yes, as in I do have an 003 for you if you want to prise it from my ownership! And yes! Please bring it down here for a tune up! Although I've just bust my un-breakable strobe light...

As above though, it's possible you won't find a significant difference, particluarly at speed. It's just the slow speed pick up that's different.

The one I have is good with very little to no wear. It just needs points, cap, rotor arm, condenser and a sort out and it will be good to go!

Adam , do you want me to send my dizzy box up to you ? Containing those twenty odd distributors You can keep a 003 for refurbishing my dizzys plus money for work carried out which we can discuss at a later date .

So don’t worry a 003 will still be in your collection if I can help with that main thing is we all have good distributors for our cars .

Kind regards
Robert.w
