Really interesting if this can be rolled out. A game changer.

Exhaust gas recirculation? Really?
That's the "new" idea?

The greatest innovations always happen in times of crisis. I wish this one well. War is a great time for improving technology (unfortunately including the killing type).

The 'war' isn't on diesels as such, it is on individuals ability to be free to travel where and when they want to.

The tree-hugging city bubble dwellers have never understood why the non-urban population are so attached to our cars and why we don't just pop down to our nearest tube station to get to work.

They never forgave Maggie for promoting a car owning culture in the 80's and wish we could all still tramp down to the local mill for our daily drudgery.

My next car will be diesel, with our without this gadget.

What grew exponentially under Thatcher, late 70s thru the 80s, was the company car sector. The consumer sector has seen massive growth with the success of low cost, soon to be toxic (perhaps), PCP schemes.

How many consumers could afford a new car if a 30% deposit was required and only a 24 month term to repay ?

Rhetorical question by the way.

Jon.

N.B it isn't about tree huggers, it is about bad/toxic air killing people - just try running your diesel in a confined space and see how it makes you feel ?

It feels the same as inhaling the fumes from a petrol engine.
If you don't believe me, you should try it.
