Default Fuel Filter

Guys, check out the filth, I wonder how long it's been since its last change

Also, there are "apparently" 2 ways to prime:
  1. turn key to position 1 and leave for 5mins, or
  2. turn key to position 1 x5.

Tried the first one and nope, it did not work, so gave the second one a try and yes it did work.

poor servicing it should be changed every other service .

the pump runs for about 18 seconds when you turn the ignition on so 3 or 4 of those will fill the filter and bleed the air.

Blimey, that’s not good!

Yeah

In hindsight I obviously wouldn't have bough it, but now that it's mine, I'll be taking good care of it. I just hope there is little to no permanent damage.

You would feel it. Just change it now. I'm doing from now every 30-40kkm. It's 10min job, and cost like 15€.

I have! The new filter is on the left, old filter on the right. I've already taken the car for a spin but not sure if I can tell the difference. I wish I'd done it before our road trip. Either way, at least it's done. Next on the list: pollen filter...

Also, £15 for a fuel filter? Are filters very cheap in Switzerland? Here in the UK a Volvo one I think is ~£40 but I got Mahle for £25

You dont expect to feel the diffrents. There is no one.

Just you fuel system is happy 😁

Now Mann is 17€ ,and Mahle 20€. I order parts in Germany, sending them in Paketshop in Austria which is 1km from me in Swiss.

Polen I have change, Mann also: 13€ and Charcoal 19€

But I will switch on Hengst filters. Just to try them. Saw few tests. It seem okay

I just bought Genuine Fuel, air and charcol cabin filter from Volvo Parts trade

Total was £94.00

Fuel filter works out at £30.00 so only a tenner more than Mann

Not sure what the difference is in quality but seeing as it's changed every two years I think I can afford to splash out a fiver extra a year on a fuel filter

Between official Volvo and Mann parts they should be the same things only one isn't officially stamped, however if this was a comparison with certain other filter makers the official ones will be of much better quality, it's not until you see them cut open you realise the differences in their internal builds,

What you paid for that lot isn't unreasonable for piece of mind anyway, I like to do fuel filters every 20k myself but every 10k is only going to be proactively beneficial so why not.

My mileage is very low now so every two years works out at 10k for me
