Default V70 leaking washer bottle - access and replacement

Morning all

It seems that the washer bottle on a V70 (08) can't cope with the same low temperatures as a 2001 SAAB 95 - both with same strength screenwash.

Refilling the bottle results in a gentle trickle of screenwash from the bottle area.

So, how much of a b*********d job is it to even get close to seeing whether it's a split bottle or other disaster.

TIA

Richard

See here http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=144437

I have the same problem as do others! Front off the car to gain any useful access apparently.

£168 inc VAT to replace the washer bottle. Access is via the N/S wheelarch liner (*). Mine empties to the point that the 'fill washer fluid' message appears so I think it's leaking from a point below the bottle/neck joint. Hildenborough did say that the HP washer outlet can work lose. If only I could get in to see what is happening I'd be happier to consign it to the stealer for repair.

* they did say that the mechanics prefer to remove the bumper etc but that it is still 'only' 1 hour plus parts to replace the bottle.

Default Problem solved.

N/S high pressure headlamp washer hose had detached from the base of the sprayer assembly.

It's not necessary to remove the wheel arch liner - although it allows light into the area in question and is easily achieved by the removal of 7 or 8 T25 flat head screws and 3 plastic nuts - to refit the hose to the base of the sprayer assembly.

Even my chunky hands had no trouble reaching through the gap to the right of the panel below the washer bottle and pressing the hose back onto the fitting. Interestingly the O/S hose was only loosely attached to the O/S sprayer assembly.

As the fitting is immediately above the fog lamp I wondered if the procedure for replacing a blown lamp in the fog lamp unit would expose the high pressure sprayer. Consulting the book of words I found that the whole panel around the fog lamp is removed by 'simply releasing the clips'. Well, I couldn't see any gap around the panel that would allow insertion of anything thicker than a piece of paper so I haven't pursued that one. Has anyone had to replace one of these lamps?

The benefit gained by removing the wheel arch liner was that I could see the screen washer bottle. It appears that all bar one of the bolts is accessible from the wheel arch. I suspect, but haven't proved, that removal of the headlamp assembly will provide access to the remaining bolt.

I'll post some photos later.

Richard

Bizzare. You can see none of my pictures - not just the Volvo ones?

Yes, I have used this method with Newsgroups without problems.

(a) do you know of another picture-web thing that I could try?

or

(b) send me a PM with an email address and I will send you the pictures.
