Default P2227 baro

Hi 2005 V70 petrol non turbo

Every now and then the EML comes on and it's P0106... sometimes it goes out itself....no starting or driving issues

Yesterday it 'stumbled' on start up...didn't cut out.... drove fine..... When cold later on the same issue....and this morning again it started but stumbled....

The code I pulled is P2227 - barometric sensor

I think these two are connected

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Kevin

Do you ever get the two P codes at the same time?

It is likely that the barometric pressure sensor is providing a reading that does not correspond to the manifold absolute pressure sensor data about the atmospheric conditions, which means that data from the throttle position sensor will be outside the expected parameters. The stumble on starting can cause damage to the lambda sensor which then complicates a solution

Your best course of action is to get the codes read using Dice and Vida which will give you an accurate picture of what is going on, rather than trying to work out what might be happening from the codes provided by an ordinary OBDII code reader.

Someone with better knowledge than I will be able to guide you about the advisability of clearing the codes and then re-reading the codes if/&/as or when a stumble start reoccurs.

It might well be worth posting a shout for help in this section for someone with a Dice and Vida in your area.

Hi

Yes the point is that the MAP sensor code had never come up (P2227....) It was only ever P0106....., until now when they've both come up and this 'stumbling' has started

I have no other drivability issues and I don't it's the O2 sensor.... And the code for an O2 doesn't come up

I haven't used (or got) VIDA....I have a Snap-on Modis.... And a Launch reader....both give the same codes

The list of codes here https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=42231

Shows P0106 Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit Range/Performance Problem, if that is combined with P2227 - barometric sensor the rate of fuel delivery to the cylinders will be wrong which causes the stumble start.

A faulty MAP sensor causes other sensors to detect errors in the supply of air and fuel so generate the relevant code.
Have a look here https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-...7-p0106-28712/ which suggests either a vacuum leak or a faulty MAP sensor - Vida will correctly identify the cause. Get the codes read with a Dice and Vida

Hi thanks

I'd already checked for vacuum leaks and everything seems ok.....I did the PCV recently and checked/changed a lot of ancillary items such as the two vacuum hoses up by no 5 cylinder that go to the air box etc

So...... Anyone in North London ish with VIDA..... ;-)

I'm inclined, like you, to think it is a sensor fault.

Have you tried cleaning the contacts inside the plugin connectors as well as connector blades/pins in the sensors themselves? If there's a poor, dirty or corroded connection it can change the output value of a sensor which would alter the response of control modules.

Other possibilities could be fuel injectors, fuel pump, or fuel pressure regulator, but would the engine run normally after the stumble start? Probably not.

I'm in Stratford and have a working DICE+VIDA set up.

I'm also in a VIDA debt to another member (stuart bowes) who came to check my car before I got my set up working.

Thanks Nick6262 and Stuart Bowes, you have no idea how pleased I am that members so willingly offer their help with Dice and Vida.

Dice and Vida are a game changer making it so much easier to rectify problems - so anybody in need, with a problem in the Medway area pm me - I'm always willing to try to help in any way that I am able.
