Hi,
Noticed a gas coming from underneath the bonnet and on closer inspection I noticed that this pipe on the right side of the engine bay near the battery has split. The coolant level is fine so suspect it’s either Powerpulse or aircon related. Meant to be driving to a France later this week so hoping Volvo can take a look but any thoughts welcome. Cheers

Gas is likely to be the battery venting so check that as well.

My guess - powerpulse - the green pipe in the pic below. After all - the coolant pipe blow would hardly go unnoticed.. PP hose blow - usually unnoticeable..

Could be a blown Power Pulse hose; it's a common fault. (I'm on my 3rd one.)

Volvo confirmed split power pulse pipe but also identified a crack in the EGR pipe which needs urgently resolving. £500 in total and no Volvo contribution which is surprising given these are not consumable parts and it’s a relative low miler (50,000) with full Volvo service history.

I'd push for a contribution for the Power Pulse hose. It's a known problem with multiple reports of failures. Volvo claims to have improved the hose to prevent these failures which effectively acknowledges that there was a design/manufacturing weakness. Also, others have reported getting a contribution. Mine were done under warranty.

I agree with Lexman.

I had a hose failure midway through the fourth year: it was not covered by my Volvo Extended Warranty because it is a hose. BUT the nice people at Holdcroft in Stoke said they would see what they could do and within 30 minutes had an offer from Volvo to pay 95%, leaving me to pay just £15.73. And because I paid something, the part was under warranty for 12 months.

I also understand that the first modified hose Volvo introduced simply changed the end that blew off (clever). Holdcroft had seen no failures with the latest version introduced Autumn 2019 (hope I remembered that date correctly).

Hope this helps.

If you're using your local dealer they aren't helpful, I was talking with a lad on the tube prior to buying mine and he'd taken his back to them for a leaking rocker cover gasket, they told him it was ok but to keep an eye on it, an eye on it until it's out of warranty maybe then it will become an issue needing immediate attention no doubt.

I had PP hose blow on my 2018 XC90 (FVSH and 2nd Volvo) mid way through 4th year although only 18k miles. Was fitted with an ‘updated’ pp hose with 100% Volvo contribution.
