Default XC70 D5 Heated Oxygen Sensor Fault

Hi guys,

Driving the car today I got a message on the dash "engine system service required" No loss of power or ill effects just the warning message.

got home and plugged her into Vida and it is showing a new code

ECM-2850 - Heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) - Signal too high

did the usual googling but not finding any forum posts with my specific error, or much on google at all to be honest, so looking into the vida replacement instructions looks like a small sensor that goes into the exhaust.

had a crawl under the car and think i found the sensor couldnt see anything obvious like freyed cables but also couldnt see or get to the plug end without jacking it up.

She has her MOT in oct so was thinking to just get it replaced when i take it in are there any ill effects to driving the car with this error, don't want to end up causing some other problem by ignoring it until i take it in.

Morning , your code is usually down to a duff sensor & occasionally faulty wiring .

A good diagnostic machine live data read will tell you which sensor if the culprit , replace & all should be right with your world again . Live data allows you to compare the values generated by the Lambda sensor/s
