Locking wheel nut: not McGard
I bought a S40 (2011) 1.6D a few months ago and discovered yesterday that there is no trace of the locking wheel nut key in the vehicle, nor reference to the key code anywhere in the manual, etc.
My local Volvo dealer told me to take a photo of the nut and email it to McGard ... they replied very quickly that it was not one of their products !! So now I have a big problem. I need to change the tyres as I've done a lot of miles recently and they're quite worn. How am I supposed to get the wheel off if I can't even identify the manufacturer of the nut ? |

That's the later style Volvo locking nut not made by McGuard. A Volvo dealer should be best placed answer how to get them off without the key.

Google Image locking wheel nuts designs, find the equivalent, find who makes them, get a key. 👍 http://www.google.co.uk/search?safe=...gns+&oq=&gs_l=
........ or get someone to drill them out then bin them.

That's not a McGard locking nut, and although genuine Volvo locking nuts were for many years made by McGard they changed their supplier in recent times...trouble is, I don't know who the new supplier is. Sorry!
Although the Volvo dealer referred you to McGard I'd go back to them and ask them to think again - probably whoever spoke to you just assumed it was just one of the older (and overall far more common) style. Someone at your Volvo dealership ought to know who the current supplier is! Failing that, Cheshired5's suggestion would be a sensible option... David

I know that from what you said but they need to do better. Volvo haven't used McGuard for about the last 4-5yrs. Failing that, try a better dealer.
