Mostly around 65mph driving from Barcelona to Essex avoiding all toll roads except for Dartford crossing. Have managed 68mpg Essex to Cornwall with a tail wind.
Although I would never be able to achieve such figures in my V60 D5 I cannot stop thinking how did you manage to drive so slow for approximately 1500km. I am impressed by your patience and drive.

Honest John Website gives "Real" MPG from figures submitted from owners.

Average "Real" MPG - 49.0 MPG

I was determined to make it on one tank, which I did with around 150km to spare.
I've got a race chip pro plugged in, which gives me around 10% better economy.
Cruise control is a real blessing, especially when driving for 18hrs. The roads through France were very quiet so was able to navigate roundabouts etc using as little braking as possible.

I've done the drive down to south of Spain too and also found alternative routes to lower motorway bill in France but I was never able to keep my discipline knowing how far I have to go and always drove at speed limit or slightly above at times.

I've got a '16 V60 manual with the D4. On a run to work @ 50mph on the M4 I'm maybe averaging 47MPG if I'm being careful. Considering the claimed economy is 60+ I'm not that impressed. I dread to think what the economy would be if I wasn't being so careful! It might be a problem with my car, but having asked on here nobody seemed particularly concerned.

That's not normal considering the manual should be better than automatic

I suspect your car may be faulty. I would suggest also checking your tyre pressure and wheel alignment maybe. I believe this mpg is way off given you kept it around 50mph. I know very well what stretch of motorway you referred to and I can achieve easily mid 50s mpg doing 50mph and I drive v60 D5 auto.

Get it plugged to VIDA maybe.
