You don't need the whole buckle!! These buckles with the withering red bits were fitted across several models of the age.
The red 'press' bit, like most things, just 'pops out' with a little assistance from a small jewelers screwdriver or such like. A good source is from the back seats of a breaker as they are used more infrequently. When refitting a replacement you need to use the screwdriver poked into the mechanism to keep the mechanism jacked-up so that the replacement locks into place. Little spring on the 'up side'. Thanks Bob.
I am aware of your previous post elsewhere on the forum re removing and fitting the buttons. As you state, the rear buckles will probably have seen less use so should be in reasonable condition which is why I am trying to source them. I am requesting complete buckles based on the assumption that it is easier for someone to remove the complete buckle and send it to me, rather than expect them to fiddle around removing the button for me. Unfortunately, to date, several enquiries and possibilities have proved fruitless.

I cannot be certain but I think that the seat belt buckle buttons had a subtle shape change around 1995. If possible could you upload an image of yours?

Volvo always:
That looks the same shape as mine. The change over must have been later, or possibly didn’t happen on the 900 series.

740/5's changed the design all round to those ^^^^ in early - mid '89'ish when Volvo introduced 'mechanical seat belt tensioners' (little red button to one side) on the passenger and driver's seats.
They remained in use on 940's (and other Series) until ...... Bob |

I've just removed the buckles from the 96 breaker I have and it has the same style! If only I had have looked before. I sold the front two and the buyer removed them himself, it is only when I removed the rear ones I noticed they were different to my 97 940. So I've got two buckles with non broken but scratched and faded red buttons.
