Hi Don thank you for taking the time to reply.

For clarity the cost for a remap is £395 Inc VAT + £155 for the soft loader which is refunded when the soft loader is returned undamaged?

Default MTE prices.

That is correct all MTE calibrations cost £395 including VAT and the Softloader interface is loaned against a fully returnable deposit of £155.

Quick update. Car was remapped at around 57,719 miles 10 months ago and is now on about 80K miles. Other than the clutch replacement there have been no problems so far.

Average lifetime fuel economy is a calculated 43.64mpg and the peak from a tank is 51.22mpg.

Good to hear. No signs of the clutch slipping again?

Also had an MTE remap (thanks Don!).

Had about 8000 miles on it now (currently 92k) and I haven't noticed any slip on the original clutch yet. My MPG is similar with a displayed average around 47.6 mpg. Certainly seems more frugal on part throttle and steady speed driving.

I am mostly pleased with the improved pick up at motorway speeds in the higher gears. It's made the car a fair bit easier/reassuring to drive IMO.

Is it a C70? With the clutch you never know what the previous owner was like, but I have read that there were some issues with D5 clutches and the spring weakening with age and causing slip.

I agree about pull in the higher gears being much improved. I have no doubts it's not the best for longevity of various components though, it's putting a much bigger load on the gearbox, driveshafts, CV joints and possibly overspeeding the turbocharger too - a common source of failure on remapped cars. Better than 180 damp horses though ;-)

No, it's a v50- it may be a bit lighter than the c70 but I'm not sure.
I'm doing mainly motorway miles and I'm pretty gentle on it although I do agree that the longevity is going to be poorer. It's been an expensive car to run anyway so far with a variety of issues each adding annually to the service bill so 20% less clutch life will be fine with me!

It's a good 250KG lighter than a C70, the roof and bracing make it a real lard arse. I imagine a V50 or better still a C30 with a remapped D5 must be a great all rounder.

I can confirm that my C30 D5 with Polestar tune really is a good all rounder, and still makes me smile 4 years after getting the tune.

Would love a C70 though.
