Default Auto Gearbox Service

I want to check the oil in the gearbox but I'm left confused! The Haynes manual says that there is a dipstick at the front nearside of the engine bay, but for the life of me I cannot find it.
I getting a jerk when setting off after stopping momentarily, like at a set of traffic lights. This irritates me because it used to be as smooth as silk!
Is my model of V70 a sealed system?

Thanks

Remove the pipe that runs to the bottom of the air filter housing and you should be able to see it - you're looking for a tiny yellow handle hidden down between a water pipe and the pipe over the engine that runs from the turbo to the bottom of the intercooler.

It gets a bit toasty there, be prepared to teach yourself some new swearwords ...

Unfortunately, I'm normally aspirated, does this make a difference?
