Default '90 740 turbo diesel estate dual fuel

Spotted this near where i live and really like it but don't have the cash right now, and i can't bear the thought of it going to anyone other than an enthusiast.

'90 740 turbodiesel in what seems to be very good condition.
Comes with 12 months test and 6 months tax.
LPG conversion
Brand new battery, alternator and tyres for mot.
Recent cambelt (diy so im told)
Munroe adjustable suspension
Bodywork and exterior both above average condition
Loads of service history.
Comes with a few spare parts.

Only faults i could see are; slight squeal from fanbelt on cold start
Patch of rust about 2 inches log on n/s rear arch
Slight wear on drivers seat but nothing major.

The guy who has it is looking for 950 for it. Not too sure what people will think of the price but the car does seem to be in good condition with loads of t&t.
The car is located in Sunderland.
I may be able to get some pics if people want them.

If anyone is interested then just pm me and i will give you the guys name and number.

Is it possible to run lpg through a diesel?
Should have googled it first! It is added to diesel to help fuel efficiency.

Default lpg +diesel

As to my knowledge you can not strictly speak of a dual- fuel system here ,

because the lpg and diesel come into the cylinderhead simultaniously
.
The lpg ratio is about 30 percent to 70 diesel.

lets ask classicswede- the lpg specialist

Could it be that i have worded it wrongly?
Like i said, it's not my car, all I know is that it is a turbo diesel with an lpg conversion. Having never run a car on lpg i know very little about it.
Hope that clears things up

HELLO BARTMAN,

All you said was clear

1=== you mention this car without that you are the owner

2=== you said dual fuel and I only made a (academic ??) remark towards
the defenition of dual fuel.Just to clarify the difference petrol with lpg
conversion there you burm either petrol or lpg.

Diesel and lpg enter the combustion chamber simultaniously.

So , dont take anything as criticism to your posting
personally.

Regards, Brodgar

I see. I thought it worked the same with diesel as with petrol. I stand corrected.

As per a couple of requests i have tried to get some pics but not managed yet due to there being 4 - 6 inches of snow here. (It is only November isn't it?)
Anyway, I will try again tomorrow if the weather allows.

There is no way this diesel will run on lpg, or even a mix, a 740/940 runs one of the "old style" high compression oil burners, even if it were possible, with a modern common rail, all the manufacturers would make them, i think you are going to photograph nonsence, like the mental cases that think a few magnets in a fuel filter is a magic source of mpg/h.p . Save yer wellys son, best wishes, an expert.... ( edit, it might run, but it will go PHUT )

Ok, ok. In order to save any more disputes as i know nothing about LPG, if anyone has anymore queries about the fuel system or anything else to do with this car, you can contact the owner on 07591885070.
