Volvo p1800e 1971
Hi All
Can anyone tell me what cable should be attached to the spare terminal on the back of my p1800e flasher switch - if any - I can't see a loose cable to attach ! ? its a 3 pin relay but the spare terminal is on the back of the switch which is also used for hazzard switch , Thanks |

...from memory, I believe that is an unused chassis connection terminal and nothing to be concerned about... That does look like the typical SWF Switch (see link!) with three term flasher unit which plugs right into the back of Sw..if normal Directional Signals, as well as E-Flasher including its own Knob-indicator are working as expected, there's more reason not to be concerned...if anything having to do with Direc Sigs is not working, you might want to investigate further...dismount Sw from Dashboard, and read term no. from Sw and compare to connection given in link. See also: https://www.sw-em.com/emergflash.htm '71 1800E Wiring Diagram (Item 15 is flasher unit, directly below that is E-Flasher Sw): https://www.sw-em.com/1800E_71_Wiring_Dagram.jpg Cheers PS. If you were to look around, I expect you could find a few more unused (spare) terminals on things...and there is no reason to be concerned when everything is working as it should and there are no other symptoms of something not functioning as it should...I suggest you spend your Sundays worrying less... |

It's difficult to be certain from your pic but it looks like an extra earth point to be used if the bracket for the flasher unit doesn't bolt to a good earth point. Some flasher units needed an earth, others don't.
I could be wrong as it's difficult to tell, if you could get a better pic it might be easier to advise but i appreciate it isn't easy up there!
