Haven't had chance to do much since my last post and barely driving at the moment. Pending further investigation and sorting VIDA, I've logged some data during driving with Torque and have a couple of questions:
- Is short term fuel trim ranging from -25 to 25 normal? - Is LTFT too high? It seems to creep up over time, never down. Waiting to see if this corroborates with the stalling but would make sense - Should MAF and fuel readings ever be 0? Above may not be indicative of anything but worth asking before throwing parts at it. Last edited by Troy McClure; Oct 3rd, 2021 at 15:30. |

Update - turned car back on after screenshot below, before starting already had a permanent error for P0101.
That combined with LTFT readings ever increasing suggest it's getting more air than expected, pumps in more fuel to compensate but then overdoes it when starting to the point of being too rich to hold idle. Resetting CEL takes LTFT back to 0, before it starts climbing again. Now thinking less likely it's throttle body and potentially a vacuum leak given it still did the same even with MAF unplugged. Would this make sense or am I taking rubbish? |

Something of an update...
My mechanic friend was having a poke about in the engine bay today testing sensor voltages and spotted this: Breather pipe (to PCV?) has completely disintegrated, the end going to the bottom hole was non-existent! This will need replacing regardless, struggling to find a part number so any help appreciated, but could this be the cause? Or a separate issue? |

9497534 ?
this looks about the right sort of shape going by what I see in VIDA (for my engine anyway) will have to rely on others for comments on whether it relates to your issue or if you can just buy that part and fit it easy if you have to remove the manifold anyway to do this repair is it not worth replacing the whole lot Last edited by stuart bowes; Oct 11th, 2021 at 21:26. |

Believe it can be accessed from the top but seeing the state of it I want to replace the PCV in the near future. For the price of a hose it will serve as a temp fix (hopefully) until my current house project is done then I can give it some proper attention. Interested to hear what others think about whether this could cause my issue or if it's a completely separate issue... |

if you're comfortable with using torrents and good with installing software you could give this a go
VIDA for windows 10 just ignore all the stuff about VCX and start halfway down. when running ok you pop in your VIN on the first tab and go to information and it shows you diagrams and part numbers download links are all down the bottom only thing is if you're planning to actually get a connector device (VCX or DICE) then dont put this version on that laptop, use whatever is advised by the person you buy it from.. just use this one on a main desktop indoors as a reference tool Last edited by stuart bowes; Oct 11th, 2021 at 22:22. |

When I'm on my laptop I'll dust off uTorrent and download that version of VIDA. Looks very similar to the Honda workshop manual I had for my last cars, absolutely invaluable for finding part numbers and diagrams. Wasn't aware that existed without going full VIDA/DICE, so that should serve well pending me buying the full thing. Thread now found for that, my other half is always after Christmas ideas so might let her have that one for me... |

definitely worth it in the mean time then, the only difference is, with the scanning tool you 'read' the car and it detects the info for you
without it, you just type in your VIN / chassis number manually, you do need to fill in the other drop down boxes, LHD or RHD and whether you have sunroof (except the one about police/taxi which will just be left blank) and away you go it's not always totally obvious, you still have to do a bit of double checking with some parts up to certain chassis numbers and then changed from then onwards, and suspension components are a bit confusing so you need to learn what all the bits on the identity plate mean http://www.volvohowto.com/volvo-s60-...code-meanings/ Last edited by stuart bowes; Oct 11th, 2021 at 22:52. |
