Default Tailgate lower trim fabric cover soaking wet

Hi all,

My name is Dave and we have just acquired a 2012 XC60 R Design AWD. Well I say we… mum in law.

The day after delivery we found the lower edge of the soft fabric trrim cover ( like fine carpet) on the lower tailgate to be dripping with water. We have had it back to the dealer today and although they acknowledge here’s a leak after dismantling bits, they are scratching heads.

Now I personally after inspecting suspect either the tailgate is out of alignment by a smidge. Or the seal on the hatch opening is no longer doing it’s job.

Since the dealer has basically advised “ keep an eye on it”. And no I’m not sitting with that comment, has anyone else had this issue.
Of note the seal isn’t ripped and is seated properly, no grommets are split or missing, the washer fluid is leaking, all glass areas are dry.
It’s just the lower trim on the tailgate on the driver’s side is wet. Like it’s wicking water somehow. The passenger side area of this same trim cover is dry.

I really want the seal replaced, but expect others to have had a similar experience. Comments welcome.👍🏻
