Default Generic 940 turbo power query

Ive got a late LPT.At the moment its standard except for 11psi of boost. Theres a brutal fuel cut sometimes when the boost spikes past 11 though. I plan to fit an IPD cam, 15g turbo, white 350cc injectors and hopefully get a chip that can eliminate the fuel cut. What sort of power can i expect from this spec and and I on the right track or should I go for different components. Will a 3" afm help much as im struggling to source one. And how does the standard intercooler fair? It looks pretty big to me, but will a cheap ebay special be any more efficient?

I know tuning has been discussed many times before but Im curious specifically about the above combo as that seems the most realistic on my budget.

Hi,

Known upgrades include the injectors, a couple of different chips, various different cam's, larger exhaust system - s/s with pass-through boxes, 012 3" AMM and associated pipe work, Iveco Intercooler - they are available on ebay occasionally, bigger turbo - 16g - conical flange may be better but requires a little more work.

Also you can go "wasted spark", look at the diff and maybe wheel size.

Weight reduction? You'll be surprised how much dead weight there can be in one of these cars.

Des. . .

Default Fuel cut??

That fuel cut seems odd. First, I would make sure your MBC is NOT spiking. A friend of mine was running 12 psi with no spiking and no fuel cut on a 2 litre HPT so I'm wondering why you are seeing one.

About 200-225 bhp. Yes fuel cut sounds about right.

My old 1996 P-reg B230FK powered 940 had MBC, cone filter and it managed a very good 18/19 psi before it hit the boost cut. It flew too although the turbo was working hard to get it there lol

There's a lot to be said for fitting a 16T rather than a 15g as it copes a lot better with high boost levels. You can hit the fuel cut at 10 psi in winter and 18 psi in Summer due to air mass being the key.

I owned that particular car around 2010 winter and it was a great car, It seemed to learn its own map and boosted well till it hit the limit. Flew like a rocket until it hit the cut, backed it off to 17psi and it was perfect on most days except hotter trips. I do love those b230 engines

I run about 14 psi and never see fuel cut, it also spikes to above a bar initially.

Do you plan to run the 15G at the same boost pressure or raise it?
