Off topic: BMW E30 (3-series) pre-facelift front spoiler

Howdy folks,

I'm slightly abusing the forum as a host for this ad, as a couple of the marque-specific forums I'd like to put it on eventually have established-member rules for classifieds.

I bought this splitter a couple of years ago for a Volvo chum who was taking a brief forray into the wonderful world of BMWs. It was fitted to a pre-facelift E30. I don't believe it will fit later cars. Sadly he sold the car before I was able to get the spoiler to him...and I still have it. I don't want to have it any more...! Here it is...



I don't know exactly what it "is"...i.e. whether it was ever standard, or whether it was an accessory / option. If you search hard enough, there are quite a few pics of cars with this fitted...and there seems to be no pattern to it. I thought initially it might be standard on 6-cyl models, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I don't want to say it's something special only to be proved wrong later...but that was certainly my gut feeling at the time...hence why I bought it! It certainly stood out (to my non-BMW-expert eyes!) as something out of the ordinary on the scrap car. I can't recall seeing another pre-facelift car with this fitted...but that may just be a fluke, and it's not rare at all. I don't know...I'm not a BMW expert...you tell me!

It owes me about £25, so let's start the pricing there. If it turns out to be super-rare and desirable, I don't want to be robbed (but I'm not looking to be greedy either)...and if they're common as hell and I've got it all wrong, I'll be willing to reconsider accordingly...including just sticking it in the next car I send off for scrap if there's no market for it at all.

I'm willing to ship, but you'll need to be willing to be a little patient. The price is currently plus shipping. It should be under £10 via a next-day courier.

The other thing to bear in mind is that I'm off on holiday from the 13th-21st July, so I'm unlikely to be available to answer any questions for a week or so from tomorrow. Slightly bad timing, I know, but I figured I'd get the ad up, and since it's a bit of an unusual one for me, see what interest there is after a few days.

Yes, absolutely. It'll be a lot easier to arrange a hand-over in person, if it looks at all likely that you'll be travelling up north any time soon...even if not to Lincoln itself? I will be heading down that way twice in the not-too-distant future - collecting cars on both occasions. Would you be able to meet me somewhere on the M25? If none of that works out, we'll just sort out a courier.

In theory I could drop it off this weekend...but...I can't find it, and have a bad feeling I moved it to my lock-up. I probably won't have chance to pick it up before I leave.

I'll need to come back again within a few weeks...I'll know more about that in a few days. Watch this space...!
