I have had the main dealer supply me with a paper filter element for my V70 when it actually uses the canister type.I'm not sure when and why the difference is, but then it seems Volvo's computer isn't either.

At 95K, if it's a slush, reg early 2004 and likely mid MY2003, OP should look to flushing his box. I would look to do that at 95K way before the oil change. Forget the oil!
As my last analysis should be good for 20,000+

Yeah, A5/B5 if what specified is fine. C isnt advisable unless you are having serious dpf issues, but thats a complicated technical issue. You can also use A3/B4 which can offer better potential of protection.
What volvoid was referring to are hths values, these are low in a5/b5 and high in a3/b4, they vary in C specs; C3 is high, C2 is low, for example. You should never use a5/b5 in engines not specified for them as damage could occur, however you can use a3/b4 in engines specced a5/b5 (maintaining the same grades) without issue, and the engine can be better protected. Other tham hths values a5/b5 & a3/b4 are essentially the same. |
