Default Haldex Pump removal query.

Hi, I want to remove the haldex pump on my 2007 XC90 D5 as I'm certain that it is not working. Code 0006 and no buzz when external power supplied directly.

I'm not overly concerned about this as I had exactly the same issue on my 2005 XC70 and managed to get the pump working properly again by removing it and installing new brushes as well as renewing the oil and the filter.

To do this on the XC70 I had to remove the prop from the rear flange, drop the centre section and then remove the rear flange altogether to get the pump out as the flange obscured most of the pump.

Looking at the XC90, the rear flange is much smaller in diameter and only a fraction of the pump is hidden behind the pump.

Has anyone managed to remove the pump on a facelift XC90 without removing the flange or is it an impossibility..

On the XC70 I was lucky and the prop slid out of the flange quite easily but this one looks rustier. That said, I'm hopeful that it will come apart if I use the old acetone and ATF loosening fluid mix for a week or so first if need be.

I have also posted this in the XC90 section.

Cheers.
