Droning from rear axle 2013 XC60
Hi have noticed a droning noise form the rear of the car
I wondering if it's a wheel bearing, however I hear horror stories about rear differentials being a weak point on this model I understand that Volvo main dealer just replace the whole unit at some 3K whereas you can order bearings via Land Rover as this vehicle shares the Diff with the FL2, whichever I am in for a big bill......... Any thoughts gratefully received Ash |

I have the same symptoms but with just front wheel dive Xc60. A droning noise from the rear just like a bearing going. I have Goodyear Wranglers and I suspect that is the problem as they are reported to drone. Won't be buying them again.

When I had my 4 wheel tracking done it was out a bit a day the guy who did it said that untilI replaced the front tyres it would sound as though a wheel bearing had gone.
Try swapping the fronts to the rear and see if the noise moves!

mine did that and as said, the inside of rear tyres had gone "blocky", so wasn't the panic I feared :-) that was about 35,000 miles ago at about 67,000)

Hi Gents
Thank you very much for the replies, yes the rear tyres are pretty blocky, I have been running them at slightly higher pressures to compensate, I'll check them this weekend, It's going in on Tuesday for a check up Thanks again |
