Default Arcadia wheels rubbing on arches

I've looked around and can't see a definitive answer to this one. I've had a set of Arcadia wheels fitted to my 2001 V40 but had to remove them. The inner most surface of both rear tyres is rubbing against the arches or something else, causing even tread wear that goes 2 inches in from the inner side of the wheels. I can hear it happen over speed humps etc.

I know the Arcadias are 215 vs the 195 of my other wheels.

I read somewhere that Volvo did something to alter the latter cars that came with Arcadia wheels and just wondering if someone knows what that modification was please.

Thank you.

Most people who fit 17s to these, be it OEM Arcadias or otherwise end up with the outside edge catching on the trim piece at the front edge of the arch, mainly the 2 bolt heads catch on the tyre, I've got mitsubishi galant wheels on my V40 and they sat very close to the bottom arms, too near for my liking, so I got a set of 5mm spacers, which has sorted things out no end.

I see what you mean. I actually bent the arches in (properly with an arch roller) which worked out well luckily considering it probably wasn't needed in hindsight.

However, the area of tyre that is worn is very much the tread surface and it's the inside section. The wheels are not with me so see bad Microsoft Paint edited photo showing the area I mean highlighted in pink:

I only noticed the wear when looking underneath the back of my car. It is evenly worn all the way round though and quite badly. The way it has worn looks like it has been shaped by the curvature of the wheel arch. When I looked in both arches though, there is no obvious damage to the plastic liner. It's very weird!

Maybe the spacers would sort it but the wear looks to be around 2 inches in from the inside.

Smile Tyre wear

I had Arcadia’s fitted as standard on my v40 2004 d sport with the sports suspension
Had similar tyre wear on a number of occasions on the rears tho by the sounds of yours not quite as bad, tyre fitters said it was caused by the tracking being out. If I remember rightly I think it was the camber angle that may need adjusting
Tracking re set using computer tracking rather than by manual laser, solved issue on mine for about 18 months then required re setting regularly. Usually when tyres due for replacement
Combination of stiffer suspension, low profile tyres and British roads

How much I miss that car

I didn't think there was any adjustment on the rear wheels but thanks.

The wear is pretty bad and very similar on each side though so it seems more like the tyres rubbing against something as opposed to uneven wear in my case.
