Default Radiator Blind?

Does the XC90 have a temperature controlled radiator blind?

A statement on the XC60 forum says that the XC90, S90 and V90 have them.
I am not aware of this and will have to look and see if I have one.

I have on my inscription xc90. When the car is parked look through the front grill and you cant see the radiator as the plastic blind is closed. I have seen it open when the car is warm. I dont know if its temp controlled but assume it is to allow the car to get to operating temperature easily in adverse weather...ie, snow frost etc.

Yes. Active Grille Shutters. Not a new concept but most UK spec cars have them from what I've seen so far.

A number of US customers do not have them, but many Canadian customers do. Go figure.

Have not had a look at my V90 yet, as the weather is terrible just now.

Thank you - Learned something today.

I have just checked my V90 and I cannot see any radiator blind.
Vertical slots in front grill and behind are several horizontal bars and the radiator is clearly visible behind these bars.

Are you not seeing the edges of the louvres in their open position?
Making them appear to be horizontal 'bars'?

I had a look at mine earlier, and assumed this was the case. I will try and remember to take a look with the engine running later to see if they close (although I don't know what the parameters are for deciding whether they are open or closed).

Cheers

Will need to go back and check again.
To be honest, I had just had my eyes tested and drops were put in both eyes, which have blurred my vision slightly.
The horizontal bars looked like the were fixed?

Just looked at mine and I'm 99% certain there are shutters. They're open at the moment and I can see the radiator but looking at the way they're constructed and the fact that there's some rotational play in the horizontal bars strongly suggests that they can move.

Assuming they are active, it raises an interesting question. Most of us probably keep the aircon on all year round (as recommended) but does that prevent the shutters from closing? Next time the engine is properly cold I must look and see if the shutters close after start-up.

I can sometimes hear mine activate shortly after sutting down the engine there are plenty of noises from the ventillation system and under the bonnet, one of which i am sure is the shutters....
