Default Hot Bot Spot

I used my heated seats for the first time yesterday, and had to turn it off almost immediately as there is a hot spot, just in front of the leather part of the seat (leather/alcantara interior) where it is alcantara. This gets really hot, really fast and almost burnt the top of my leg.

Does anyone know why this would be, as the rest of the seat heats up uniformly, and the whole of the passenger seat is fine.

Yours, with burnt cheek!

Andrew.

Hi. Check out the following thread.

Looks like it applies to S80s as well!!

http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/dc/dcboa...id=2402&page=3

It is a known problem about seat heaters and fires/short circuits.
Some people (cannot remember which forum I have read it on) have had to jump out of their cars as their seats caught fire!!!!

I say take it to a dealer pronto!!!

Dan.

Thanks Dan,

I'm going to take it to the dealer in the morning and see what happens. The car is still under warranty, so hopefully there will be no charge, the only upset is that they had the car for 10 days before delivery and should really have spotted it then.
Oh well, they did manage to iron out all the other niggles the 98 cars had, so one out of thousands can't be bad!

No Probs.

Warranties are invaluable when it comes to cars that will be as potentially expensive to maintain as an S80.

Later,
Dan.
