As said, loads banging and levering; I have worked in a garage and seen mechanics knock 7 bells out of drums to get them off; skilled ones slant the blows and rotate the dum as they hit so pushing the drum off, often removing the drum with just a few hits; damn annoying when you don't have the experience and are banging away for ages!

Enjoy!
This, but these drum in disc are worse than actual drums, much tighter amd the shoes dont have proper location pins. Pigs.
And unless you are renewing, ya've gotta be careful not to bruise (dent) the drum.

Thumbs up

Finally got this done, but not by brute force.

Before resorting to that, had another look at the hand brake cable splitter in the central console between front seats. It was a 45 deg angle, so cable to wheel in question was longer than other. Surmised either cable or angle bracket was stuck in the "on" position. So sprayed WD40 through a bolt hole in the disc, in the direction of the angle bracket, and left overnight.

Following morning was able to push the hand brake cable back, with a bit of a grunt. There was a satisfying clunk and disc/rotor/drum popped off easy as pie.

Lucky no brute force needed as was not looking forward to that and repairing the damage that might have been done.

Attached images show:
i. Cable Splitter lying in the 45 deg position I found it in, with brake cable in question forced backwards
ii. Angle bracket as discovered. Very dirty and gummed up
iii. Angle bracket cleaned up and new springs now in place
iv. Cable Splitter re-set nicely at 90 deg
v. Inside of disc/drum/rotor. No Rust Rim preventing the shoes to slide out so that would have been a wasted effort trying to scrape the edges!

Now back to tightening the hand brake cable as set out by others on this forum. Thanks All for thoughts and encouragement.
