Unhappy fuel guage and cluster lights problem

ive recently bought a 1989 740 gl which is in emaculate condition , the only probs i can find with the car is the cluster lights dont work and neither does the fuel guage . does anyone have any ideas as to what i may try to resolve this?

Cluster lights: Youve found the dimmer knob?

Fuel Gauge. It's normal for it to read incorrectly. Well documented on the Site. I'd suggest a search and read up as there are a few differing reasons for it occuring

lol i did the same thing when i first got mine. turned it back up again and hey presto, the lights worked

Dimmer switch small black knob on the bottom right hand side of cluster!! Clock adjuster on the opposite side

Just in case you haven't and don't know where it is..

ive turned the dimmer both ways all the way but no change.

ive worked out the petrol guage it was a loose connection on 1 of the connecter blocks.
