Ford used to own Volvo when they also owned Jaguar and Aston Martin. Your car shares it’s platform with the Mondeo. It’s the same basic cost saving premise as VAG where a number of cars in the VW, Audi, Seat and Skoda ranges are basically VW Golfs with different body designs on the same platform. Interesting. Funnily enough, I thought the rear lights on my S80 resembled a Ford of some sort! My Dad has a 57 plate V70, is that Ford based too? What about other main components like the chassis, body & gearbox on Volvo's, were they Ford too? My 2007 S80 is a 2.4d 163bhp. I've read that this is basically a 'de-tuned' D5, is this correct? It has the silver engine cover like my Dad's V70 & the engine looks practically the same.
