yups vvt gone
timing belt, aux belt , and tensioners for them both when you get it done if you get it done
saves labour costs as they have to take them off to do the VVT pulley so if there "needs changing" (on years OR miles) same time and save a few £

IF your indy is any good he should phone you and say "your vvt is failed it will be £"

as for park it ,nah just drive it, they work fine with the vvt faulty, all it Really affects is the top end power,, if you never go above 3.5/4k rpm youd never notice

Ok

Thanks for the advice.

I may get it done. The car only cost me £650
And it's in good condition generally.

It depends if the vvt is jammed open or shut?

If jammed open as mine was it will still go like the clappers right up to the high revs also with good mpg but when at a stand still moving off you have to slip the clutch more for a good start....like pulling away in 2nd gear when all good.

I drove for 25,000 like this as i didn`t do town work.

The motor was on it`s 3rd vvt in 57,000

Well the garage spotted the failed vvc thing and advised as you guys have.

It also needed a few other bits but the mechanic said the car has clearly been looked after and should go on for years still.

I have the money so I told him to fix everything. I get it back on Monday. They gave me an S60 for a courtesy car. Blimey it's big!

Welcome to the forum. As another newbie i have found most people on this forum to be knowledgable, polite and very helpful. There is always the occasional grumpy troll but i just ignore them. What you will find is even with people being fans of different models there is still a common bond. Good luck with your car and I hope your experiances on the forum are positive.
