Hi All,
Hope we are all healthy and well after 13 years since i owned my last XC90 i'm going to view another one today i can't remember why i sold the last one anyway i'm back i have been driving a galaxy for many years now oh and i had a v70 diesel for a short while but now the wife wants an XC90 AGAIN and me really we just miss the comfort and cruising ability. So today we are going to look at an 05 XC90 which sounds pretty good on paper we shall see? i even considered an XC60 d5 but size wins over and mpg there's not much difference between the two so watch this space oh and its good to be back

Sounds like, in your head, you've bought it already!

TBH not the best frame of mind to go to look at an older car...

Good luck and I hope it turns out to be what you want.

Welcome Back!

Cheers

Dave

We Sold our galaxy and replaced it with a V70, but it was too small, so Last week bought our first XC90 similar story to you. The wife has been nagging me for 2 years to get one and loves it.

The v70 was very quiet soft and an awesome mile-muncher, the XC90 by comparison has a noisier engine, feels heavy and less refined, but it is an awesome vehicle if you need the space.

I'm getting the idea women love these larger cars, perhaps sitting higher ? Anyhow, these are old now so care when inspecting. Safest bet to me is to see a pile of repair papers with top brand names on it- if you can find AWD, front suspension and a bunch of wheel bearings repairs that's a good bet, manuals also fail at the salve cylinder. The XC60 sure is more modern, but I would worry about long term problems. They had a transmission problem (yes, Volvo did it again) and of course Volvo won't take care out of warranty - it starts first with a harsh engagement in D, later develops into full fault.

Thanks for the replies i went i saw and i walked away it was a tidy car but when you see the seller repairing cars on the pavement doesn't inspire much I didn't even drive the car just started it a clunk clunk from steering joints knuckles rack i'm not sure but it was a no no so i think it may be a loooong search for something bargain price cheap

Shame - but probably the right decision.

Keep an eye on here, nice cars come up from time to time that won't break the bank.

Cheers

Sold my 2003 XC90 and few weeks ago after 6 years... I called the buyer two weeks after just to check all was well and he grumbled profusely.... that he hasn't really seen it as his wife has been using it all them time.

I've said it before and I've said it again, these cars become a family member rather than an appliance....
