Default 115k 2008 V50 D5 - Smoke at start

Hi Guys,

Another problem, (which may be more serious than my other one), is that on start there is a puff of what I think is blue smoke ONLY from cold start, once it has been started once, it is ok until left for a good few hours.

It is also burning oil from what I can tell.

I can't see if it is leaking anywhere as the undertray is on, but no patches of oil are being left on the road from what I could see.

Valve stem seals or turbo seems common from a google.

Car is 115k V50 D5 2008 MY2009, serviced by Volvo every time to schedule.

Thoughts?

Mine smokes at start when left overnight. Tis a 2005 V50 on 130000. Doesnt worry me at all. Uses no oil and does good mileage. Smokes for just about 30 seconds or so. It is something I just put up with.

Mines stopped now, even after a full weekend off.

Turns out it hasn't burnt any oil either, car wasn't on a perfect flat!

Well, could be everything or nothing. First make a compression test to see if everything it's ok. Then check glow plugs, when one or more goes faulty you will have black smoke, difficult start. Check the timing belt with tensioners. If out of tollerance or worn can give problems at cold start, loss of power, but a clean start at hot engine.

Sorry for my poor english.
