Whats the noise? Video included.
Hi all,
Im looking for advice on identifying the noise in the video. Car is a 162k miles D5 163 manual. Its booked in for the rear discs and shoes next week at VolTech in Hull, so if I can diagnose the noise now they can attend to it at the same time. Video here: http://youtu.be/4NJv4tCmjto?hd=1 Im thinking some kind of tensioner problem, but the noise 'seems' to be coming from the bottom right of the engine bay (as far away as poss. from the belts!) however I know that sounds travel in funny ways in enclosed spaces. Could it also be DMF or injector related. Its worse when cold - this video was taken just now with an air temp of 8c (down to 3c last night) and once fully warm the sound is vastly reduced / gone. Any help appreciated!

Yup, thanks.
We've diagnosed it in the general forum as the DMF.
