Electronic parking brake reset
Does anyone know how to reset the electronic parking brake on an S90 without having to plug it into VIDA at a dealership following brake pad replacement? I have been quoted over £400 to replace front and rear pads. I normally replace brake parts myself but need instructions to reset the EPB. Thanks in advance for any help.

Buy genuine pads and you will get a guide on how to fit them without Vida. On the V70 once the new pads are in you just operate the hand brake button and it resets itself.

If it is similar or the same as the v/xc70 then you should be able to do it with a couple of wires with female spade connectors at one end of each. You can use a spare car battery or even a small 9v battery. I even carry a couple of wires and small battery in the car now so that I can still move the car if it won't re-start for any reason.
If you are wary of that method then the example thread points to a video showing how to do it manually ( the official volvo way) when you don't have access to VIDA. Several recent threads in the 07-16 v/xc70 section. E.g. https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=282366 |
