Default Headlamp protectors - help please!

I have acquired a set of genuine Volvo headlamp protectors, which do not fit any of my cars.

The part number on them is 40005670, and they are marked respectively "RH/LH 09/04" which I imagine is a date of manufacture.

I am told by a friendly master tech that they fit the Mk 1 S80 and are long since discontinued by Volvo.

I'd like to offer these for sale, as they are in excellent condition and it seems pointless them sitting in my garage doing nothing. However, I really need to be sure which model they fit first! Is anybody on here able to confirm that for me please?

Many thanks

David

a 4000 part number means it is sourced in UK by volvo uk for the UK market so does not appear in any volvo parts list , the S80 is the only headlight which you can replace the glass on so protectors are pretty pointless really ...

Are you sure? I have them on my 240 estate and my 760 Turbo yet have replaced the headlamp glass on a 240 more than once. Maybe after-market companies have made them in the past, for factors who may try their luck in selling some?

Indeed - I have replaced lamp lenses on a classic V40 and a C70 (Mk 1) over time. I think Clan's point was in respect of the more recent cars, most of which I know have one piece plastic headlights.

I should emphasise that these covers are genuine Volvo and marked as such...

I understand Clan's helpful explanation about 4000 series part numbers totally, thanks, but surely it must be possible to establish for certain which model these fit, though? Somewhere within Volvo's systems that part number must relate to something?

I should have said the S80 was the LAST volvo to have replaceable headlamp glass
