Glad you got it fixed. Seems odd that it was the clutch sensor - I would have discounted that on the basis that (as I understood it) the starter motor was turning over but the engine was not firing. It suggests therefore that the clutch sensor not only prevents the engine turning over but also cuts fuel unless it's depressed when you press "start". Seems a bit odd, or is it my Friday night logic that's at fault?!

(It still sounds like a fuel problem to me!)

I guess that's what I was trying to say in a slightly more roundabout way!

Is the fuel pump on a relay or just digital? Also, how about connections to the pump etc? Granted,I guess this would show up on computer.

Dear Clan! And others. Sorry, but I could do with your help and knowledge.

I have a 2010 v70 2.0d se, it has a starting problem, read all your posts and still really struggling.
Car is struggling to start, it has cut out once started twice, normally within 5 seconds of starting.
Tried to look at throttle body, my mechanic tried it and didnt look or feel like it was sticking. Unplugged EGR and it seems better but now noticing it is still struggling especially when cold. Its not coming up with any codes.

Have had the car since june.
Just spent alot of money on it, full manufacture service, timing belt change, new aux belt new tyres and now new bosch battery and egr valve now on order but i now fear that isnt the solution either.

Really struggling for cash and hoping yoy can point me in the right direction

Many Thanks and kind regards

Jordan

you need to file the edge of the throttle plate so you can JUST see daylight around the edge when shut ... To prove it , pull the vacuum pipe off the throttle actuating capsule and block the hose .. leave it until next day and try it ...

you have to get the codes read it could be the ignition switch or the electric steering lock . has the car been left with the battery disconnected for any length of time ?

Thanks Clan.

When It had the starting issue the first time it cut out as I was sitting at the junction just past my house. I tried to restart it and it came up saying immobilizer start again.
So I was told by a friend to disconnect the battery for a few hour's and see if it fixes itself.
I did seem to fix, but then the problem persisted with suspected throttle body.
It hasnt came back up with immobiliser start again until yesterday.
Thought it was all related, looks like two seperate faults..
Got back to car last night when it was freezing cold, I thought I was going to have to get a lift home, when it fired first time no problem.
Bit scared to use it now. Its just back from a 450mile trip down south which it was perfect.
When the immobiliser problem came up yesterday i couldnt put steering lock on when i was leaving it, not sure if thats a sign of anything.

Thanks again
