Default Alarm Module Replacement

So I am getting alarm system malfunction appearing on my dash every time I turn the ignition on. Vida says the module battery is the problem but it was replaced months ago and was initially OK. I am wondering if it is not charging the cells? Either way I am taking it off the car tomorrow to have another look at it and get the part number from the case so I can find a replacement on line somewhere and not pay the huge overpriced amount Volvo want for it. Does anyone know if any firmware specific to different years or models needs to be loaded or does any alarm module with the same part number work?

6G9N-19G229-DE Seems to be universal part number for it on ebay.

Don’t know about P3 cars but on P2 it was possible to carefully open the module and replace the battery, as long as the cells hadn’t leaked and destroyed the circuit board.

I replaced the batteries earlier this year. But didn't help. Plenty of cheap modules on ebay so I will try one of those.

I have the very issue right now. However, the alarm still sirens so for the cost of replacement, I think I will leave it for now. I believe the back up battery is there if the main battery is removed from the car? If so... dont think my car will be pinched and that even happening. But yes... some cost for a small unit!

I found the issue with my alarm module. I was getting constant alarm module warnings everytime I stared up and even got the alarm going off one morning. I took it to bits removing all the silicon I had used to seal it all back up which took a while. As it opened water poured out and after inspecting the pcb there are even green crusties. Obviously not sealed enough, so if you are replacing your cells, make sure you seal it tight and when refitting it, tilt it down as far as you can so any water will run off the module. I fitted a module from eBay which continued to display alarm system needs service even though Vida said, no problem. But the error cleared after an hour or so.
